Biopsy
Biopsy is the surgical removal of a pathological lesion of the oral mucosa. Biopsy is performed with the aim of histopathological study of the lesion. However, many times biopsy can also be a treatment at the same time. It is done under local anaesthesia and is painless and postoperative pain is minimal. Biopsy may be required for persistent lumps, white folds in the skin, swollen gums, papules and other entities. After surgery, the specimen is sent to a special laboratory for histopathological examination.
