Teeth Whitening

Over the years, teeth absorb pigments due to food consumption (e.g. red wine, beetroot) and also due to various habits such as smoking. Due to these pigments teeth become discoloured. Age also contributes to this discoloration because, as the years go by, it is normal for the colour of teeth to get darker. In order to achieve a brighter smile, we recommend teeth whitening. With the development of dental materials, whitening has evolved into a completely safe procedure. There are 2 variations of this treatment, depending on whether it’s performed in office or at home.

Whitening at home: To get started you need two appointments at our clinic.

At the 1st appointment, impressions of the upper and lower jaw are taken so that 2 corresponding splints can be made. At the 2nd appointment we deliver the splints and the whitening material to you as well as analytical instructions. The duration of the treatment is usually 10-15 days.

In-office whitening: In-office whitening provides immediate results. The procedure takes about 45 minutes and is performed in our clinic with the most advanced equipment. The activity of the material is enhanced by the use of curing light or Laser. We usually recommend 1 or 2 whitening appointments in the clinic.

Internal Whitening of an endodontically treated tooth: When a tooth has been previously treated with endodontic treatment (root canal therapy), it is very likely to become darker in colour compared to the adjacent teeth. In order to improve the colour of this tooth, internal bleaching is indicated, during which the bleaching material is placed inside the tooth.
