Apicoectomy (root end surgery)

Your teeth are held in place by roots that extend into the jawbone. The tip or end of each root is called the apex.

When the apex is infected and endodontic treatment is not an option or has been done in the past and retreatment has not been successful or possible, surgical removal of the apex and the infected tissue is required, in order to maintain the healthy part of the tooth.
